The Exchange Framework

The Exchange Framework was created to simplify business connections and B2B document exchanges.

It provides a set of standards and policies that enable businesses to connect once and share electronic invoices seamlessly, regardless of the platform, system, or network they use.

The Four-Corner Model

The DBNAlliance network uses a four-corner model including four participants:

In this model, documents are sent and received through access points that link businesses to the network. It handles both requests and status updates. The format used is based on the OASIS UBL 2.3 standard for invoices and credit notes.

For each document sent, there are four key parties: the document sender (C1), the sender’s provider (C2), the receiver’s provider (C3), and the receiver (C4).

While senders and receivers can use any method or format to communicate, they must follow a common standard (UBL 2.3), use the AS/4 protocol, and adhere to policies and technologies like SML and SMP.
