In a significant leap forward for electronic invoicing, PeppolSoft has achieved a groundbreaking technical milestone within the DBNAlliance network. The company has successfully implemented and validated two innovative methods for attaching supporting documents to electronic invoices, streamlining processes and enhancing interoperability across the network.
Two Robust Methods for Document Attachments
PeppolSoft’s latest development introduces two seamless approaches to include supporting documents with electronic invoices:
1. Embedded Attachments: Supporting documents are directly integrated into the UBL 2.3 XML structure, ensuring a cohesive and self-contained invoice package.
2. External References: Documents are hosted securely on the DBNA network and linked via accessible URLs, offering flexibility and ease of access.
Both methods adhere strictly to the UBL 2.3 standard, guaranteeing compatibility and reliability. Extensive testing in both three-corner and four-corner models has confirmed their effectiveness, enabling smooth transmission and receipt of invoices with accompanying documentation.
Enabling the Extended Invoice Format
To leverage these new attachment capabilities, users must adopt the Extended Invoice format. This requires specifying the following CustomizationID in the invoice:
CustomizationID: urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:Invoice-2::Invoice##DBNAlliance-1.0-data-Extended-envelopeattachments
This standardized approach ensures that invoices with attachments are processed efficiently across the DBNA network, maintaining consistency and compliance.
A Team Effort Driving Innovation
This milestone is the result of the dedication and expertise of PeppolSoft’s talented team, including Andres Zamudio, German Melchor, Robinson Garcia, and Mauricio Reyes. Their innovative work has paved the way for enhanced efficiency and functionality in electronic invoicing, setting a new standard for the industry.
Looking Ahead
PeppolSoft’s achievement marks a pivotal moment for the DBNAlliance network, reinforcing its position as a leader in interoperable e-invoicing solutions. The company remains committed to collaborating with the DBNAlliance community, offering ongoing support for testing and implementation to ensure the continued success of this advancement.
